Mini Houska Exhibit @ KHS

I was asked to give a "talk" and artist career presentation to about 50 Kirkwood High school students. It was so difficult to talk about myself lol :)   A mini exhibit in the schools new public gallery will be up for a month. It is still amazing how interested and quisitive the students are. I wish I had experienced such when I was in HS, could have saved some time 
figuring it all out on my own....and still learning!

Kirkwood High School Art Gallery features St. Louis Artist Charles Houska

Houska Exhibit in John Dean Gallery Feb. 23 – March 18

The National Art Honor Society of Kirkwood High School will host St. Louis artist Charles Houska in the school’s John Dean Gallery from Feb. 23 through March 18. Houska will speak with art students on Feb. 23 prior to an opening reception.

The Kirkwood School District community is invited to attend the opening reception on Feb. 23 from 3 to 4 p.m. to meet Houska and view his art. Houska will speak with art students prior to the opening reception.

Houska, a painter and graphic designer, opened his own gallery/studio in St. Louis in 1998. He describes his colorful works as “happy art.” In addition to his acrylic-on-canvas paintings, Houska paints murals and billboards. Major corporations, including  St. Louis Children's Hospital, have commissioned Houska to create artwork for their specific needs.

Houska also works with school-age children through a program he calls Houskaballoo, in which he collaborates with students on mural projects in their schools.
